Processing details
Characters include spaces, line breaks, and emoji as grapheme clusters when segmentation is available. Words count word-like segments. Empty input has zero lines, while a trailing line break starts another line. Byte size is the exact UTF-8 length.
Limits and privacy
Counts can differ in browsers without grapheme segmentation and from editors that use UTF-16 code units or different word boundaries. Text stays in this browser.
